Easy easy easy Portsmouth 3 Reading 1

This was a game that I had a feeling was going to be hard, but no it was all to easy. The day started with a long walk to the pub in North End after I parked the car near Fratton Park. The pub was very nice and big with 3 large screens, one above the bar and the other two at each end. This converted church was a very good conversion, serving food and coffee and yes beer.

Tha game was the best I have seen Pompey play for a while, Reading played ok but far to weak a club with a Prm stadium and traing but a poor team.It was Reading's fourth consecutive loss, and boss Steve Coppell will not be encouraged by a defence who looked nervous throughout. Mwaruwari had two golden chances that even my mum could score!!!!!
and a hand ball by Mendes how did the ref miss that!!!

This was a good win, now we are up to forth and on 19 points after ten games.Only 21 points to go then!!

Time for a Toon up

Just a quick one so to speak, Pompey are at Newcastle tonight for our next league cup match. So it's back to the radio again (Newcastle is a bit far my car) if this was a League match I would be a bit nervous now but cup matches are not the same. My prodiction for the game is (I'm not good at these) 2-1 to Pompey :-)

POST 100!!! Chelsea 2 Portsmouth 1

Well another three points lost at Chelsea with one exception from the last few visits, we scored a goal and could have nicked a point if we had the more belief. To be fare it is hard to win or get anything at Chelsea for that matter. My only moan is when we got a goal back we did not go for them, I had Radio Five Live on my sky box instead of 107.4 the Quay the true blue station for a change, and they seemed quite surprised that Pompey have improved so much over the last year. (Ok Steve Claridge was commentating he is a Pompey fan and former player manager but I am sure he was impartial) So its on to the midweek cup game at Newcastle and I am glad that we have a chance to put the Chelsea defeat behind us. Another moan what was that reff doing booking the Chelsea players for celebrating with the fans after scoring the goals, FIFA are the enemy of football in more ways than one with there petty rules, the reff had no choice I suppose.

Chelsea: Hilario, Paulo Ferreira, Ricardo Carvalho, Terry, Ashley Cole, Essien, Lampard, Ballack (Boulahrouz 90), Robben (Joe Cole 66), Shevchenko (Makelele 76), Drogba.
Subs Not Used: Makaba-Makalamby, Wright-Phillips.

Subs Not Used: Kiely, O'Brien.

Portsmouth 2 West Ham 0

Well it’s nice to be back at Fratton Park and a win to boot. After my dream about leaving my season ticket at home I made sure I had it firmly in my pocket. The day started at the pub ( makes a change) and it has been a few years since I have been inside The Froddington Arms, this is one of the pubs I used to go into after a mach back in the old days!!!!. A nice couple of pints of Flowers a mans beer not that gassy rubbish a real beer. No Sky TV in this pub so not to busy so easy to get to the bar nice.
Now to the game, I like West Ham I don’t know why it’s just one of those things. With Teddy playing upfront for the first time this season for The Hammers it’s good to see our old striker at Fratton Park again as long as he has a bad day!!!!
Frog Help!!!!

At the time we (Mum and Me) get to the ground the players are warming up usually in front of us, and a strange frog turns up(Look above is it real?) I must keep of the hard stuff.Players warm up

The game was very good end to end stuff, except that the ref seemed to have his whistle stuck in his throat. Every tackle or contact he blew up (I wish he would) very annoying I don’t pay for this oh well back to the game. I have to say I had a feeling West Ham who have lost six in a row would get back to winning ways. How wrong I was with a header from Kanu on 24 mins and a lovely strike from Cole on 82 mins to wrap it up I left Fratton Park very happy indeed. West Ham were good but they could not score so it’s only Chelsea next week so another 3 points for us then.

Look tha Frog is abducting children phone the police

Pompeygary’s MAN OF THE MATCH Fernandes what a player very quick and classy and still not fully fit.
Pompeygary’s Worst man Poll (The Ref) Just was to whistle happy let the game bloody flow it is a contact sport.

Portsmouth: James, Johnson, Primus, Campbell, Stefanovic, O'Neil, Pedro Mendes, Fernandes, Taylor, Mwaruwari (Cole 77), Kanu (LuaLua 66).
Subs Not Used: Kiely, Pamarot, Davis.
Booked: O'Neil, Campbell, Pedro Mendes, Johnson.
Goals: Kanu 24, Cole 82.
West Ham: Carroll, Spector, Gabbidon, Ferdinand, Konchesky, Benayoun (Mascherano 86), Reo-Coker, Mullins, Etherington, Zamora (Harewood 70), Sheringham (Cole 70).

Berlin Ndebe-Nlome

Thats the full name of that player from pre-season , and he has just got a work permit from the Home Office he is only 18 years old and Harry rates him and said "He's a young boy, just 18. We've had him on trial, took him for nothing and are giving him an opportunity. He's strong and he has got something. I think if he works hard at his game then he could be ok. I'd like to get him out on loan somewhere; he's strong enough, even though he's only 18, to play league football," the gaffer revealed.

I had a dream

I don't remember my dreams that much, but I have had two dreams about Pompey this week I wont go into to much detail, but the first was about the new stadium. The club had built it in the middle of a woods and it was far to small, the other was about me leaving my season ticket at home just as I got to Fratton Park noooooo, and when I phoned my wife to come down and give me the ticket you can guess what she said.......

The Froddington Arms

The Froddington Arms is the Pub for the next home game against West Ham get the beers in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots has happened since my last post

Well with no game this weekend I watched England play very badly to Macedonia boring it was nuff said. So to things Pompey well Lua Lua got himself arrested and then released with no charge, over a domestic row at home in Port Solent. So it would seem his poor form at Spurs is more than just football related, I hope he gets it sorted I do think he is a good player if a little selfish on the pitch.
The ground rumours have grown since Mandaric left Pompey. Moving Pompey away from Fratton is the option Alexandre Gaydamak went for, but one option Tipner near the greyhound stadium I hear is going to cost to much to clean up, and Farlington bring us back to the Brent Geese issue with the environmentalists. So as Gaydamak has brought more land near Fratton Park this week it looks like we are staying put? But Gaydamak has scrapped the old redevelopment idea from the Mandaric era of Fratton Park and wants to build something bigger so how long will we wait this time?

Still on 13 points after defeat Spurs 2 Pompey 1

So I sat down in front of the telly to watch us have our annual defeat at White Hart Lane. How did it go, well a cock up by us led to a quick goal by Spurs at the 39th-second. So it went down hill from that moment, Pompey played very well except for a real sharp striker up front, then it was cheat time from Didier Zokora as he dived in the box to give Spurs a pen. I don’t blame the ref as it looked like a pen to me at the time. With Kanu’s header before the end of the first half it made the second half fun to watch. So time to beat West Ham in two weeks at Fratton Park and get away from that unlucky 13 points.

Tottenham: Robinson, Chimbonda (Huddlestone 45), Dawson (Davenport 81), King, Assou-Ekotto, Jenas, Murphy, Zokora, Ghaly, Berbatov (Keane 73), Defoe.
Subs Not Used: Cerny, Mido.

Goals: Murphy 2, Defoe 35 pen.

Portsmouth: James, Johnson, Primus, Campbell, Stefanovic (Taylor 64), O'Neil, Davis (Mwaruwari 64), Pedro Mendes, Kranjcar, Kanu (Cole 72), LuaLua.
Subs Not Used: Kiely, Pamarot.

Goals: Kanu 40.
