Pompey lose, Mandaric walks and we are only 3rd Portsmouth 0 Bolton 1

The day started well at a very nice pub, with football shirts on the sealing and walls and a very good atmosphere. After a couple of pints it was time to go to Fratton Park, after a quick trip to the toilet and to my surprise and joy they had Southampton F.C. toilet paper nice!!!!!!

This was Milan Mandaric’s last game at Pompey thanks and goodbye. A tearful Mandaric spoke to the fans before the match and he found it hard to hold back the tears. After seven years that’s it The King Is Dead Long Live The King. Time for the Gaydamak era to begin.

So the game well I have to say Bolton are ugly in the way they play and look especially Diouf . This was Pompey’s first los after a good start to the season we had to come down to earth at some time, its just sad that it had to be at home.

The man that was the first to score against us in the league was Kevin Nolan, and what a goal it was fired home from just outside the Pompey box after Linvoy Primus' headed clearance fell to him. We hit them with everything we could but to no avail, so it onto Spurs this Sunday so we are on T.V. agin!!!!!

Pompeygary’s Man Of The Match JUSSI JAASKELAINEN Fine saves to keep us out!!!

Time to sit infront of the radio

I am looking forward to this match against Mansfield Town this evening! No less than 11 changes to the side since Saturday's match against Charlton. Not particularly worried about the result this evening - should be a win for us though - and I'm looking forward to hearing the new boys playing. Lots of the new boys who were playing at Havant and Waterlooville last week are playing tonight - so I've already seen them in action.

This is strange not that we are top of the league again, (if only for 24 hours) but one thing people have forgotten is we are a team that just don't win away. So yesterday was our second win away this season with the other a draw, this is not the Pompey I know and I love it!!!!!!!. So its time for Mansfield Town on Tuesday in our first cup game of the season. Play Up Pompey!!!!!!!!

Pompey ,BBC and Bungs

Far a short while rumour after rumour has been on the internet and in the media about football managers getting bungs for players, and YES Harry Redknapp has been put under the spot light by the BBC in an undercover investagation but it would appear that he saw that one comming so the BBC have nothing on him. Harry Redknapp has strongly denied he is involved, claiming he isn`t one of the 6 managers and Portsmouth aren`t one of the ten sides . Have a look at this NOTW
So nothing to worry about then I hope . but this is an interesting rumour on Vital Football..Is it time to put ones head in the ground and hope it turns out ok?

Trip down memory lane part Two

Pompey vs Rotherham
Date: 27 April 2003
Venue: Fratton Park
Scoreline: 3-2
Pompey Scorers: Todorov (2) Merson
Attendance: 19,420

The game that won us the First Division tittle nuff said.

PAUL MERSON grabbed the ball, leapt in the air, stuffed it under his shirt and ran off the pitch. The ball had fallen to Pompey's skipper as the final whistle blew and Pompey were crowned Division One champions. How perfect.

The catalyst for Pompey's first silverware in 20 years going home with the ball he'd made talk all season. Not long after, and Merson was back out there holding the first-division trophy above his head amid an orgy of Pompey players spraying champagne.
First blood went to Pompey on 11 minutes thanks to a debatable penalty after minimal interference from Guy Branston left Svetoslav Todorov on the ground.
Branston found the perfect response five minutes later. Shaun Barker's throw-in was flicked on by Alan Lee for the centre-half to dart between Blues shirts and sidefoot home.
Pompey were soon in front again when Vincent Pericard collected Steve Stone's ball down the flank and crossed low for Todorov to escape his marker and tuck home his 22nd of the season.
Rotherham were level before half-an-hour had gone. Another set-piece, this time a corner, and centre-half Chris Swailes got up highest to beat Shaka Hislop with a powerful header.
A ball from Gianluca Festa, drafted in as emergency left wing-back, brought Pompey's winning goal in first-half injury-time.
The Italian found Nigel Quashie in space and his deep cross was nodded back by Pericard for Todorov to sweep in.
Then it was a case of hanging on for 45 minutes against a tough-tackling Rotherham side, and the party could begin.

Taken from the news

Early kick of at Charlton

Pompey may go top of the League if we win at Iain Dowie's Charlton at the Valley. So I hape with all the players Charlton have out with Injuries Djimi Traore,Souleymane Diawara and Andy Reid and Hermann Hreidarsson suspended. With Pompey Dejan Stefanovic should pass a late test on a toe injury and Gary O'Neil has recovered from a stomach strain, even with a stong Charlton side we would get something.

Kick-off: 1245 BST

Reserves Westleigh Park

In this 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa reserves I was able to see Pompey's new players in action. Milan Baros proved the difference between two sides with two goals, but for me Kranjcar was Pompey's man of the match. It was good to see Ashdown back between the sticks again after his time out.Cole played ok for his seven mounths or so out and for the rest of them it was get your fitness up time.Westleigh Park is a lovley if small non-league ground with good bars and large TV screen to enjoy before and after the match, but I stuck with the coffee bar in the ground I was driving what a good boy. Infact for the reserves Westleigh Park only grt about 200 to 500 people but with all the big names for this match it was around 1,271 so they opened the seconed coffee bar.

Pompey: Ashdown, Songo'o, Duffy, O'Brien, Wilson, Fernandes (Harris), Koroman, Kranjcar, Douala, Cole (Compton), LuaLua (Fordyce).

Subs not used: Jordan, Hartmann.

Aston Villa: Taylor, Gardner, Bridges, Djemba-Djemba, O'Halloran, Bouma, Agathe, Osbourne, Whittingham, Baros, Berger.

Subs: Green, Olejnik, Kabeya, MacDonald.

Attendance: 1,271.

Portsmouth now 125/1

William Hill say they have made Pompey 125/1 to win the Prem after the good start worth a bet well maybe not.

Portsmouth 1-0 Wigan

The day started of badly when I left my mobile phone at home, so I went to Fratton train station to meet my Mum. I waited an hour (wasting valuable drinking time) and she did not turn up. So as I said earlier in the week we will meet at the Shepard’s Crook pub I walked down to the pub and my mother was already there on her third pint I think !! The pub had a BBQ out the front but on a hot day the beer went down very well. With us both in our new Pompey shirts (Thanks Mum) we set of for the game.
The match in the first half was well rubbish Wigan kept our midfield very quite, so it was a bit long ball at times.
The second half was much better with Benjani Mwaruwari's second goal of the season the only time we got a shot on target, till Lua Lua came on for Kanu. Benjani looked good for the goal he took it well and looked strong. I predict this boy will score a few this season.

Pompeygary’s Man Of The Match Linvoy Primus Gets better and better

Pompeygary’s Worst Man Teale Those shorts to long.

Portsmouth: James, Johnson, Primus, Campbell, Stefanovic (Pamarot 66), O'Neil, Davis, Pedro Mendes (Thompson 86), Taylor, Mwaruwari, Kanu (LuaLua 76).

This is funny

A woman who rang Southampton FC to order a 'Crouch 14' shirt was told that not many fans were interested in them because of the player's Portsmouth connections. She replied that she was sure that was the case, but insisted she wanted one, adding: "I'm his mum." (Daily Express)

Midweek before a game

Well I don't beleve I have only been to one game so far at Fratton Park, with two away games and an England international in the last four weeks ,it has been a life time. With Pompey in the number two spot in the league things are looking up so back on the roller caoster this Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Todorov makes loan move to Wigan

Wigan have signed Bulgarian striker Svetoslav Todorov on a season-long loan from Portsmouth.

The 28-year-old has scored 33 goals in 76 appearances for Pompey, including two already this season and has won 21 caps for his country.

"He is a pure striker who lives to put the ball in the net," said Wigan manager Paul Jewell.

"I hope he will bring us the predatory instinct in front of goal which we have lacked at times."

Another Non football Saturday

What will I do? watch England I suppose.

Transfer deadline day was good for Pompey

Pompey signed 3 on tranfer window day Andrew Cole,Niko Kranjcar and Roudolphe M'Bela Douala. Also I have heard that we have loaned that player Berlin as he inpressed on pre-season.So Redknapp no more bare bones!!!!
